In rural Uttar Pradesh, education is often out of reach. Particularly in Sitapur district, 84% of girls never reach secondary school— poverty and exclusion shape daily life. Survival often forces families to sacrifice schooling, pushing children into labor or early marriage.
Swarachna School exists to break this cycle.
Milaan Foundation founded Swarachna in 2007— the region’s first senior secondary school, providing holistic, value-based education. Over 800 students from marginalized communities attend, with many first-generation learners.

Swarachna’s Role During COVID-19
Swarachna School became a nodal center for the COVID-19 rapid response team, supporting rural communities in Sitapur. In partnership with the District Health Department, the school facilitated critical health interventions, including the distribution of medical consumables, medicine, and diagnostic kits, BCC materials, and dry ration kits. The vaccination drive, coordinated from the school, reached over 200,000 people, reinforcing Swarachna’s commitment to community well-being
