Girl Icon
Program

The Girl Icon Program, launched in 2015, is Milaan Foundation’s flagship 12-month leadership initiative that equips adolescent girls from underserved communities in Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh with the skills, confidence, and support to lead change.

By investing in girls’ leadership, enabling girl-led community action, integrating a sports-based curriculum, and collaborating with key stakeholders, the program supports girls in India’s most marginalized communities to build agency, drive solutions, and shift gender norms from within.

How the program
works

Our
Impact

At its core, the Girl Icon Program intends to empower girls to become agents of change, equipping them with the skills to transcend societal norms and bridge the gender digital divide.

Many Girl Icons represent the first generation of girls within their communities to to gain access to structured skill-building opportunities.

A commitment was made to strengthen and
scale the Girl Icon Program to reach 100,000
girls by 2025.

That goal has now been
achieved
